Del Infinito Gallery is preparing for a unique exhibition that brings together three visionary artists, each with their own distinctive approach to exploring the interaction between the human being, the environment and social transformation. This exhibition enhances the ties between countries, galleries and artists of different generations. In this case, together with Vermelho Gallery in Sao Paulo.
André Komatsu, an influential member of the generation that witnessed the democratic transition in Brazil and the adoption of neoliberalism in the 1990s, invites us to question the ways in which we interact with the world through his work. His ability to transform urban debris into three-dimensional and installation pieces highlights the duality of construction and deconstruction in our society. In his sculptures, we see how fragments of masonry and recycled materials become symbols of change and resistance, a representation of the power and conflicts that underlie our everyday structures.
Clorindo Testa’s work, on the other hand, emerges from a background in architecture and is intertwined with his passion for abstraction. Inspired by Le Corbusier, Testa revolutionized the Argentine architectural scene with his brutalist approach. His emblematic buildings merge with his plastic work, a testament to his struggle to understand the relationship between the big city and urban life. Architecture becomes a tangible manifestation of his vision, and his incorporation of concrete, primary colors and pure forms convey a sense of innovation and radical change.
Enio Iommi, an icon in Argentine sculpture, also brings a unique perspective to the exhibition. His career, which spans from the revolutionary Asociación Arte Concreto-Invención to his later focus on the critique of industrialization and consumption, highlights his restless spirit and constant search for new forms of expression. His assembled sculptures and provocative objects reveal his desire to question the boundaries of art and society, as well as his ability to create works that reflect the very essence of reality.
As these three artistic voices come together in the Del Infinito gallery, a unique narrative unfolds. From the deconstruction of society and power in Komatsu’s work, to the revolutionary influence of architecture in Testa’s vision, to the provocation and social critique of Iommi, this exhibition becomes a captivating dialogue about change, resistance and transformation in an ever-evolving world. All three artists share a passionate commitment to challenging conventions and transcending limitations, leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene.
